Exploring Correlation between Stand Structural Indices and Parameters across Three Forest Types of the Southeastern Italian Alps

Forest stand structure can be described through structural parameters as well using indices. However, to date, there is still much uncertainty regarding how indices and are intercorrelated. The analysis of correlation guide their selection in research applications forest management, avoiding redundancies loss time during data collection. In this study, a sample stands belonging three types the southeastern Italian Alps, we explored among indices, then checked relationships between parameters. results indicate that vary sampled types. Moreover, indicates some them strongly intercorrelated and, thus, they give redundant information. Strong correlations have been found Shannon index Mingling index, Gini Diameter differentiation size dominance Correlations were weak, therefore, cannot recommend exclusive use alternative common Instead, combined robust solution for describing structure.
